WinBench 99 - Transfer Rate Test
We ran WinBench 99's Disk Transfer Rate Test to get a better measure of just how well the transfer rates are over the course of the entire disk. The Disk Transfer Rate test reads from the media in a linear fashion from the beginning (outer tracks) to the end (inner tracks) to find the actual transfer rates of every track on the platter. The numbers below represent the speed at which the benchmark started and ended.WinBench 99's Transfer Rate test began reading the 7200.8 at 70.5MBs/sec. As the drive heads moved closer to the inside of the media, the transfer rates decreased, but not as much as those on the other drives. The test ended with a 70.3MBs/sec transfer rate, which is much higher than the ending rate of other drives. A 200KB/sec drop in transfer rate from start to finish is obviously much better than a 10MB/sec decrease.
