How it Rates

AnandTech Motherboard Rating

Rating (x/10)

Performance

The TS-ASL3 performs slightly above average for an i815/i815E boards.

6.0

Price

The TS-ASL3 is priced attractively.  You do not get as many features as some other boards, but for users who only want the key features of the i815E chipset, the TS-ASL3 is a board to look at.

6.5

Stability

Transcend has always focused on stability, and the TS-ASL3 is no exception.  The board is rock solid in our stability test, thanks in part to the fifteen capacitors sitting around the CPU socket.

7.0

Quality

Transcend uses high quality components on the TS-ASL3, such as the capacitors and hardware monitor.

6.5

Features

The TS-ASL3 has everything users expect to find on any i815E motherboard.  Overclcoking support is quite good as well with FSB settings from 66-166 MHz in 1 MHz increments and CPU Vcore tweaking.  Beyond that, Transcend did not put any extra components on the board.  They did not put in any software bundle either.

6.5

Layout

Transcend has definitely put quite some effort into the layout.  The placement of the power supply connector, the second serial port, the extra USB connectors, and the CPU socket are all in good positions.

7.0

Availability

Availability is what really hurts Transcend.  Their boards can only be found on a handful of on-line stores, and are not available in most local computer stores.  That’s probably because they are still relatively new to the motherboard market, so they still have to work hard on it.

3.0

Documentation & Software Bundle

The manual has a lot of information on jumpers and connectors, but it lacks specific instructions for installation into your case.  The CD that comes with the board contains all the necessary drivers and software, but Transcend did not include any extra software bundle.
